Emirates Airline Festival of Literature
The annual multi-award-winning Emirates Airline Festival of Literature is one of the leading cultural events in the UAE, and the Middle East’s premier literary festival. Its inception in 2009 was a catalyst for the formation of many other cultural events in the region.
The Festival is accessible to all members of the public, regardless of age or nationality. Guest speakers are drawn from all genres and parts of the world, with all aspects of the publishing industry represented. It provides an equal platform for international and locally-based talents, continuing to build the literary landscape in the UAE whilst also championing new Emirati authors and traditional culture, such as conserving the rich storytelling tradition of the region through creative writing competitions and other such initiatives.
More than 1,700 authors from 112 nationalities have taken part in the festival over the years. Hybrid events mean that the Festival sessions reach all four corners of the world, while the Festival’s Education Programme offers students the chance to interact with different authors, which is one of the best ways of making a child want to read.Learn More
