About the Group
The inaugural Writing Group is an open, welcoming and collaborative environment in which any aspiring or interested individual can write freely. Guided by our very own Emirates Airline Festival of Literature’s Programme Administrator, Annabelle Corton, the Writing Group will engage in innumerable writing exercises and techniques that allow members to interact with, and learn from, both their own writing styles and those of the group. Variety, diversity, freedom and inspiration are critical components of the art and pleasure of writing and all these elements are at the heart of the Writing Group. In addition, the group will, from time to time, receive further inspiration and support from visiting and resident authors who are already part of the Emirates Literature Foundation community.
Meeting once a month, at 7:00pm at the Emirates Literature Foundation
The Writing Group welcomes all those aged 16 years and wiser.
Annabelle Corton is the Programme Administrator for the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature. She has a First Class Honours degree in English Literature from the Open University and loves words, especially when they’re in the right order. A regular attendee of all manner of writing workshops at the Festival, she thinks it’s time she channeled her enthusiasm into hosting and encouraging a regular group of writers, aspiring or otherwise, to do the one thing they need to do in the writing world to get anywhere: put pen to paper.
