First Anniversary Celebrations Continue at Dubai International Writers’ Centre
Unity through Diversity
Dubai, 11 November, 2015: Join the Dubai International Writers’ Centre as we celebrate our first anniversary. For one night only, authors, poets and speakers from and residing in the UAE will be sharing their literary experiences alongside poetry recitals and live music performances at the picturesque Al Shindagha Historical Neighbourhood.
‘We have completed our first year in the sun,’ said Dubai International Writers’ Centre Director, Ranya Doleh, ‘and this celebratory evening is our way of thanking our supporters, visitors and writers. The Dubai International Writers’ Centre was set up as a uniform platform for everyone to engage with. Our theme for the evening, ‘Unity through Diversity’, represents the Centre’s goal to unify the community through the diverse voices and audiences in the UAE.’
The evening will feature several literary stars including bestselling children’s author of The Case of the Exploding Loo, Rachel Hamilton, and Hunna Ladies founder and author Sahar Naja Mahfouz speaking about their experiences as writers in the UAE. Audiences will also be able to enjoy Arabic calligraphy while the Human Spirit Project brings together poetry and music.
Doleh concluded by saying, ‘Our Emirati Literary Night last month was a superb success and we are looking forward to replicating the same on November 21. If you’re an author or a poet, we look forward to you joining us. For all our guests, this is a literary evening not to be missed.’
